Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup: Bare City, Liverpool others, eye title

The finalist at the last edition of the Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup, Bare City, and some other teams have exuded confidence that they have all it takes to win the 2021 edition of the tournament when hostilities begin on November 20th.

Bare City’s Team manager, Nurudeen Suleiman who disclosed this to newsmen after the draw of the 6th edition in Kaltungo, Gombe South LGA said they have prepared very well and are raring to go.

“Yes, with the help of God and how we have prepared for this year’s edition, I am confident that we will win the title,” Suleiman noted to Adamu Yola Cup Media.

“It is because we have identified some of the mistakes we made in the last year’s final and our boys have taken it upon themselves to make amends this time.”

Nurudeen also confirmed the departure of their former coach, Lukman Shuaibu but feigned ignorance when told he has joined All-Stars of Kaltungo.

“I know that he has left Bare City but I am not aware that he has joined All-Stars. But wherever he is, we wish him all the best in his endeavours.

“We have added some players and we have also released some players so that we can strengthen our team. This is because we feel there is a need to reshuffle the team,” Nurudeen added.

Earlier on, FC Liverpool of Bambam Coach, Yunusa Yakubu confirmed that they are ready to give every team a run for their money and thus improve on their last year’s performance.

“First of all, I will like to wish every club luck but as usual, my team comes first. We crashed out in the quarter-finals last year but this year, I have all it takes to win it.”

Other coaches who were present at the draw and expressed optimism about their chances were the coaches of Awai United of Billiri, Christopher Musa, and Coach Zephaniah James of Samba Boys of Kaltungo.

“We have feeders. We have brought in some players from the feeder team and let go of some old players who may not cope with the intensity of this competition.” Coach James confirmed.

Over 70 clubs across four Local Government Areas registered for this year’s edition and the qualifying round will be played across the different centers.

The 6th edition of the competition will kick off on the 20th of November, 2021 at the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Stadium in Kaltungo, while the Billiri township stadium will host the final.
